Wine is often a topic of conversation at Life’s Journey Travel, but we can’t forget about some of the spirits! In honor of May and June being two of the most popular months for whisk(e)y festivals (the third Saturday in May is World Whisky Day), here are three of the best bars to sip on that venerable uisge beatha.
1. Black Rock, London
This bar is in the style of a classic pub, but with one key difference: situated in the center of the room, you’ll find an eighteen-foot, three-ton oak table with two large grooves carved into each side. Whisky on tap flows through them! In addition, there are about 250 different kinds of whisky in the cabinets around the table. 2. SCOTCH Whisky Bar at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh (Scotland) If you want something a little more traditional, head to the Balmoral Hotel in the land of scotch. Over 500 single-malt Scotch whiskies line the walls of the Hotel’s bar, and knowledgeable staff is there to enhance your experience. They also pair your drinks with decadent treats, like smoked almonds and Swiss chocolates! 3. The Flatiron Room, New York City Variety is one thing at which the Flatiron Room excels. Step into this restaurant and bar and you’ll find over 1,000 bottles! This bar also offers Spirits classes and live music every night. Want to include some of these spots in your next vacation? I’d love to help you plan your itinerary!
